Why we started Modifi

It started with a vision and a lot of passion.

American families of four discard over 176 pounds of e-waste each year – that’s the equivalent of 400 iPhones. Most of that waste is never recovered – either for parts or reuse – meaning each new product purchased pushes an ‘older’ model out the door.

That’s a lot of processing and sensing power headed to the dump!

Add to this fact the average American smartphone owner spends over 5 hours a day using apps – a 69% year-over-year increase.

As access to Wi-Fi and mobile broadband increased and app developers upped their sophistication in producing quality products and accessibility, Americans found many challenging daily life issues could be solved with apps. “There’s an app for that” is not an exaggeration as people turned to the iTunes store and Google Play depots to find simple solutions to complex problems.

By 2019, it is expected that over 5B (67% of total population) people globally will have access to a cell phone. With over 6M businesses in the United States alone, that’s a lot of technology at the fingertips of most workers. As more and more companies join the personal households of abandoning land lines, the use of mobile phone technology is expected to rise.

The average mobile phone holds over 7 basic sensors and represents at least 6 different gadgets in one device. This means that in our pocket we have state-of-the-art speedometers, tracking capability, light adaptors, cameras, video machines, and much more. What once filled wall-sized bookcases now slides into our pockets or on our dashboard with ease.

But it is more than just technology, we want to see the world a happier and more productive place. Is there a way to merge the two?

We harness the technology, so you can capture the data.

At Modifi, we wondered, can we minimize landfills and create more efficient humans at the same time? Most of us use these incredible tools to make our lives easier, why not apply that practice to businesses and save the world at the same time?

Take a look at our unique approach at www.Modifi.io. We’re excited to help you make sense of the data you have and give your people the power they need to work smarter.
